Commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecid and completed in 1856, Dolmabahçe Palace reflects the Ottoman Empire’s transition to a more Westernized lifestyle. With 285 rooms, 46 halls, 6 baths, and 68 toilets, the palace was a luxurious gateway to the West. It’s also where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, spent his final days.
